On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in the Khour area. This initiative marks a vital step towards enhancing sports infrastructure in the border regions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the inauguration, Satish Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to providing modern, accessible, and inclusive sports facilities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the special focus on rural and border regions, aiming to foster a strong sports culture, promote discipline, and encourage a healthy lifestyle among young people.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent. Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities,” Sharma stated.
The newly inaugurated indoor sports hall boasts a range of world-class facilities and is designed to accommodate multiple sports disciplines simultaneously. It features three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, one volleyball court, and two judo courts. Additionally, it also includes two courts each for wrestling and kabaddi, creating a comprehensive training environment for aspiring athletes.
Sharma interacted with local youth and sportspersons during the event, encouraging them to take full advantage of the new facility. He assured them that the government would continue prioritizing sports infrastructure development, youth engagement, and talent promotion across Jammu and Kashmir.
The inauguration of the indoor sports hall is set to significantly boost sporting activities in the Khour area and surrounding regions.
