SRINAGAR, June 28 : The Meteorological Department has predicted the likelihood of rain and thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir late night and early morning until June 30. According to meteorologists, there is a forecast for light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers in many parts of the Jammu Division during late night and early morning hours. In the Kashmir Division, light rain is expected in a few places.
Looking ahead to July 1-5, meteorologists anticipate a gradual increase in rainfall intensity starting from July 2 onwards. There is a possibility of intermittent light to moderate rainfall in many places, with chances of brief periods of heavy showers at a few locations during this period. Moderate thunderstorms and lightning are also expected, with potential risks of landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas.
Regarding temperatures, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 19.6°C, which is 2.5°C above normal for this time of year. Qazigund saw a minimum temperature of 15.4°C, slightly below normal, while Pahalgam and Kokernag experienced temperatures above normal. Kupwara and Gulmarg also reported temperatures slightly above and below normal, respectively.
In Jammu, the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.7°C, significantly above normal for this period. Other areas like Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also reported temperatures varying around their respective norms.
The Met Department advises residents and travelers to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions during inclement weather conditions.
