A tragic accident on Friday claimed the lives of eight people and left many injured when a private bus crashed through a railing of a bridge and plunged into a drain at Jeewan Singhwala village, police said.
The bus, carrying over 45 passengers, was en route to Bathinda from Talwandi Sabo when it fell into the Lasara drain, officials reported. Locals immediately rushed to the scene to assist the passengers.
Rescue Operations Launched
Authorities confirmed the death of eight people in the accident. A rescue operation was swiftly launched by the police and district administration, who transported the injured to nearby hospitals. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also arrived at the site to provide assistance.

Officials stated that the inclement weather in the area might have played a role in the tragedy. However, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray, who was present to oversee the rescue efforts, said medical teams and ambulances were dispatched promptly to manage the situation.
