In a significant achievement in the fight against drug trafficking, a police team from Bari Brahmana Police Station arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 29.78 grams of heroin (commonly known as “chitta”) during a vehicle checking operation. The operation took place near J&K Bank on Haldiram Factory Road.
Details of the Arrest
The incident unfolded when a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number JK04J-8832, traveling from Haldiram Factory Road towards Bari Brahmana, was stopped for checking. Upon spotting the police party, the occupants of the car attempted to flee, raising suspicion. Acting promptly, the police apprehended them, leading to the discovery of the contraband.
Recovery and Identification
- 20 grams of heroin were recovered from one individual, identified as Javid Ahmed Lone, son of Bashir Ahmed Lone, a resident of Humhama, Tehsil and District Budgam.
- 9.78 grams of heroin were recovered from the second individual, identified as Shakir Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Ahmed Dar, also a resident of Humhama, Tehsil and District Budgam.
The total recovery amounted to 29.78 grams of heroin. Both suspects were arrested on the spot.
Legal Action Initiated
A case has been registered under FIR No. 01/2025 under sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Bari Brahmana. Further investigation is underway to identify any larger network or connections involved in the trafficking of contraband substances.
