Satish Sharma, Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology, Science and Technology, ARI and Trainings, called on Union Minister for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, to discuss the development landscape of Jammu and Kashmir with a special focus on rural and border areas.
During the meeting, the ministers deliberated on various initiatives and innovations in Science & Technology, as well as research and exploration in medicinal plants. Satish Sharma emphasized the significance of Jammu and Kashmir’s iconic water bodies, which play a critical role in the region’s ecology, economy, and tourism industry.
He proposed the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Rejuvenation of Water Bodies. The center would adopt a comprehensive approach for environmental revitalization and resource optimization, addressing the pressing need to protect and enhance the region’s natural assets.
The discussion also highlighted the potential for leveraging advancements in science and technology to address developmental challenges in rural and border areas.
Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the proposal and assured support for initiatives aimed at sustainable development and technological innovation in Jammu and Kashmir. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to creating impactful solutions that address the unique needs of the Union Territory.
