The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) recently organized an interactive session under the Social Internship Program of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Urban 2.0 at Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu. This event aimed at fostering awareness among students and empowering them as ambassadors for cleanliness and sustainable practices in their communities.

The session was attended by a diverse group of students, teachers, and JMC officials, including Mr. Devansh Yadav, IAS, Municipal Commissioner of Jammu, along with Sh. Abdul Satar, Joint Commissioner (Health and Sanitation), JMC, and Dr. Divya Sharma, Incharge IEC (Information, Education, and Communication), JMC.

In his keynote address, Mr. Devansh Yadav emphasized the significance of the Social Internship Program, which serves as a platform to engage young minds in the promotion of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation. He highlighted the crucial role of students in driving behavioral change and spreading awareness about sustainable practices in their schools, homes, and communities.

“The Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 is a national initiative aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all. Students are the future leaders, and it is essential for them to take an active role in spreading awareness and encouraging the adoption of cleanliness practices,” said Mr. Yadav.

He also encouraged students to not just be participants but to take initiative in inspiring others, focusing on small yet impactful changes like waste segregation, the use of eco-friendly products, and keeping their surroundings clean. Through this program, JMC aims to instill long-lasting habits and attitudes in students that will lead to a cleaner and more sustainable Jammu.

Sh. Abdul Satar and Dr. Divya Sharma also addressed the students, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in achieving the goals of SBM Urban 2.0. They stressed the need for every individual to contribute towards building a cleaner and greener environment, with students playing a pivotal role in spreading the message.

The session concluded with an open forum, where students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their ideas on how they could contribute to the mission. The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the students were truly inspiring, and it was clear that they were ready to embrace their roles as ambassadors of cleanliness and sustainability.

Through such initiatives, Jammu Municipal Corporation is working towards creating a more aware and active youth community, dedicated to the cause of cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable living.

Together, let’s work towards a cleaner, greener Jammu!
