Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today reiterated the Government’s commitment to expediting infrastructure development while addressing environmental concerns. He was interacting with locals after laying the foundation stone for a road project from Santokh Vihar, along with allied links, at Kunjwani.

The newly initiated road project, undertaken by the R&B Department, aims to enhance connectivity for a large population residing in the area. The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the significance of such projects in bridging gaps in infrastructure and ensuring better mobility for residents.

During his visit, the Deputy CM also inspected the ongoing construction of a Buffalo Farm at Chatha, being developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.67 crore. The project is slated for completion within two years. He assessed the pace of work, addressing any potential bottlenecks hindering smooth execution. A team of DIQC officers accompanied him to conduct an on-spot assessment of construction materials being used in the project.

Emphasizing sustainable development, Surinder Choudhary also visited several mining sites to evaluate adherence to environmental norms. He underscored the importance of responsible mining practices, urging officials and stakeholders to ensure ecological balance while extracting resources.

“The Government is committed to sustainable development, and all projects must align with environmental regulations to prevent degradation,” he asserted during his inspection. He directed authorities to enforce strict measures against illegal mining and take corrective actions where necessary.

The visit also included interactions with local residents and officials, where he reassured them of the administration’s dedication to addressing their concerns and accelerating developmental initiatives in a responsible manner.

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by senior officers of the local administration, the DMO Jammu, and officers from the R&B Department during his visit.
