In a decisive move to reclaim encroached government land, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) conducted a large-scale demolition operation today at Ragoora on the banks of River Tawi in Sidhra. The drive was carried out under the directions of JDA Vice Chairman Pankaj Sharma, with active support from the district administration and police.

The demolition squad, assisted by police personnel led by SDPO Jammu East, SHO Bagh-e-Bahu, SDPO Nagrota, and SHO Nagrota, dismantled multiple illegal structures. The operation was part of JDA’s ongoing efforts to remove unlawful encroachments and ensure planned development in the city.

Massive Encroachments Cleared

Led by Garbi Rashid, Director of Land Management, under the overall supervision of Vice Chairman JDA, the drive successfully razed 30 plinths/boundary walls and an under-construction residential building. The demolition, conducted using two JCB machines, was carried out under Khasra Nos. 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 at Ragoora, Sidhra. Nearly 25 kanals of JDA land were retrieved from encroachers during the operation.

Clear Warning Issued

Vice Chairman Pankaj Sharma directed officials to install JDA signboards and begin fencing the retrieved land to prevent future encroachments. He issued a strict warning to all illegal occupants, urging them to refrain from encroaching on JDA property, or else face severe legal consequences.

Public Reaction and Development Plans

The demolition drive targeted unauthorized constructions that were obstructing the planned development of the area. Local residents have widely supported the move, expressing concerns about the illegal occupation of prime land meant for public use.

JDA has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities and warned against any illegal encroachment, as such activities hinder urban planning and infrastructure development.
