The Army\u2019s Northern Command today held wreath-laying ceremonies at multiple locations across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh to mark Vijay Diwas, commemorating India\u2019s decisive victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh as an independent nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Udhampur-based Northern Command honored the occasion with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Dhruva War Memorial. The event was led by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Lt Gen Kumar interacted with veterans who continue to inspire us through their legacy of courage and dedication,”<\/strong> the Northern Command stated in a post on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Jammu, the Tiger Division paid homage at the \u2018Balidan Stambh\u2019 war memorial. The Deputy General Officer Commanding of the division laid a wreath at the eternal flame, accompanied by a ceremonial guard of honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis event was held to honor the supreme sacrifices of our brave soldiers during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, which concluded in just 13 days with a historic victory for India,\u201d<\/strong> a defense spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Ladakh, a commemorative ceremony was organized at the \u2018Hall of Fame\u2019 in Leh. Major General Dinesh Kumar Singh, Chief of Staff of the Fire and Fury Corps, led the tributes by laying a wreath.
