Working to Improve Ratio, Assembly Told"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the Legislative Assembly today that the Union Territory currently has <strong>one doctor for every 1,880 patients<\/strong>, acknowledging the strain on healthcare services while outlining ongoing efforts to improve the doctor-patient ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a <strong>written reply<\/strong> to a question raised by <strong>MLA Wagoora-Kreeri, Irfan Hafiz Lone<\/strong>, the Minister In-charge of the <strong>Health and Medical Education (H&amp;ME) Department<\/strong> stated that the department is continuously referring vacancies for <strong>Medical Officers and Assistant Professors<\/strong> to the <strong>J&amp;K Public Service Commission<\/strong> in a bid to bridge the gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc68\u200d\u2695\ufe0f <strong>Recruitments Underway to Strengthen Healthcare<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The reply noted that <strong>365 Medical Officers<\/strong> and <strong>105 Assistant Professors<\/strong> have recently been appointed. In addition to regular recruitments, the Government is also availing services of healthcare professionals on a <strong>contractual basis under the National Health Mission (NHM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the data shared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>96 Specialists<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>418 Allopathic Medical Officers<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>874 AYUSH Medical Officers<\/strong><br>are currently serving across Jammu and Kashmir under NHM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister added that as per <strong>Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS)<\/strong> norms, staffing requirements for <strong>Primary Health Centres (PHCs), New Type PHCs (NTPHCs), and Sub-Centres (SCs)<\/strong> are mostly met. However, there is <strong>no provision for specialists at PHC level<\/strong> under the current guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfe5 <strong>Healthcare Facilities in Wagoora-Kreeri Constituency<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to a query regarding medical infrastructure in the <strong>Wagoora-Kreeri Constituency<\/strong>, the Government reported the existence of <strong>17 health institutions<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>CHC Kreeri<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PHCs<\/strong> at Kalantra and Shrakwara,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NTPHCs<\/strong> at K. Muqam, Nowpora, and Dudbug, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SCs<\/strong> at Bulgam, Authoora, Chinned, Wagoora, Shaikhpora, Sherpora, Sultanpora, Walraman, Tangwari Bala, Waripora Bala, and Nilser.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These institutions provide <strong>free screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)<\/strong> such as <strong>diabetes, hypertension<\/strong>, and various forms of <strong>cancer (oral, breast, cervical)<\/strong>. Essential <strong>medicines and diagnostics<\/strong> are also provided at no cost \u2014 <strong>175 drugs and 39 diagnostics<\/strong> at PHCs, and <strong>96 drugs and 14 diagnostics<\/strong> at SCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd7\ufe0f <strong>Infrastructure Development and Upgradation Plans<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the question of infrastructure expansion, the H&amp;ME Department confirmed that <strong>administrative approval has been accorded<\/strong> for the construction of <strong>additional floors (G+2) at SDH\/CHC Kreeri<\/strong>, and <strong>tendering is in progress<\/strong> by the R&amp;B Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the <strong>Sub-Centre at Wagoora<\/strong> does <strong>not meet the IPHS criteria<\/strong> for upgradation to <strong>NTPHC<\/strong>.
