Srinagar Police took a significant step on Tuesday by attaching immovable property valued at ₹1.20 crore, owned by notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This action forms part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan aimed at combating drug trafficking.
The operation followed the provisions of Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The attachment was executed by Police Station Nowhatta in relation to FIR No. 61/2019, which pertains to Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act.
The attached assets encompass a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block with three washrooms, and a land parcel measuring 09 marlas. Investigations revealed that these properties were acquired through the ill-gotten gains of drug trafficking activities.
Nisar Ahmad Sheikh is the son of Habibullah Sheikh and resides in Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal area of Srinagar. The police identified his assets as illegally acquired, adhering to the legal procedures outlined in the NDPS Act.
This decisive action illustrates the Srinagar Police’s relentless commitment to dismantling the financial networks that uphold drug trafficking. Srinagar’s police authorities emphasized their resolve to intensify operations against drug peddlers and stressed the necessity for public cooperation in this fight. They urged residents to report any suspicious activities that may pertain to drug abuse or trafficking.
